This is only true if you are trimming off split ends or severly damaged hair. It is obvious that trimming hair will not make it grow faster. You're cutting if off, so if anything, it's giving it more time to grow. If you don't trim split ends, they spread, which means when you finally do get a trim, you'll have to get even more cut off.
